AEW Week 107 Viewership Update

As noted before, the October 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite resulted in AEW drawing 575,000 viewers, a 0.22 key demographic rating, and a 10th place key demographic ranking on TNT.

This week’s issue of the Wresting Observer Newsletter provided more details for AEW’s show that week.

Dave Meltzer reported that AEW’s episode that night started off with around 635,000 viewers and had around 590,000 viewers for its second quarter, around 536,000 viewers for its third quarter, around 547,000 viewers for its fourth quarter, around 537,000 viewers for its fifth quarter, around 581,000 viewers for its sixth quarter, around 588,000 viewers for its seventh quarter, and around 588,000 viewers for its main event quarter featuring the Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black match.

In regards to peaks, Meltzer reported that AEW’s peak for overall viewers, overall key demographic viewers, and Females 18-49 viewers was their first quarter. AEW’s overall key demographic viewership for that quarter was 313,000 viewers. AEW’s peak for their Males 18-49 viewership was their sixth quarter.

AEW’s lowest point for overall key demographic viewership was their fourth quarter which had around 269,000 viewers.


More on WWE NXT Viewership for November 2nd

The November 2nd episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a large drop in overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 631,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 30th place.

Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for NXT’s large decrease this week was due to stiff sports and news programming competition. Meltzer reported that in regards to news competition, sixteen news-based shows had finished ahead of NXT’s show in rankings for the night and NXT was ranked 11th for its time slot. Meltzer reported that NXT’s viewership suffered the most from their overall 18-49 and overall 18-34 groups, which were down 17.8% and 33% respectively compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB World Series Game 6 of Atlanta Braves vs. Houston Astros drew 13,968,000 viewers on FOX and the NBA game of Miami Heat vs. Dallas Maverick drew 1,026,000 viewers on TNT.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 198,000 viewers. NXT’s sole increase was with their Females 18-34 group at 4.2% higher than last week’s show. NXT’s biggest decrease was with their Males 18-34 group at 46.9% lower than last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 3.4% in overall viewership and up 8.6% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for November 3rd

The November 3rd episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a sizeable drop in overall viewership, key demographic ratings, and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 878,000 viewers and a 0.33 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 6th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s decrease for this week’s show was due to its much lower than usual lead-in programming viewership on TNT, which was 48% lower than last week’s lead-in programming, and their lower than usual key demographic viewership, which was 18.1% lower in their overall 18-49 group and 16.8% lower in their overall 18-34 group compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets drew 1,302,000 viewers on ESPN, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,325,000 viewers on Bravo, and The Challenge drew 680,000 viewers on MTV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 424,000 viewers. All four of AEW’s key demographic groups were down with the biggest being their Females 35-49 group at 24.7% lower than last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 22.5% in overall viewership and up 10.7% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 874,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Matt Sydal, Lee Moriarty, Dante Martin, & Lio Rush backstage segment, the Jamie Hayter vs. Anna Jay match, and the Jade Cargill backstage promo segment which gained 17,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Cody Rhodes vs. Andrade El Idolo match & the post-match brawl with FTR which lost 62,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for October 29th

The October 29th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings

AEW Rampage drew 623,000 viewers and a 0.25 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 4th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increase for that week’s show was due to its higher than usual male key demographic and Teenagers viewership groups, which was 13.5% higher in their Males 18-34, 17.8% higher in their Males 35-49, and 50% higher in their Teenagers group compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB World Series 2021 Game 3 of Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves drew 11,232,000 viewers on FOX and the NBA game of Dallas Mavericks vs. Denver Nuggets drew 937,000 viewers on ESPN.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 320,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest increase was with their Males 35-49 group at 17.8% higher than the prior week’s show. AEW’s sole decrease was with their Females 35-49 group at 1.7% lower than the prior week’s show. In terms of viewership age skews, Meltzer reported that AEW’s Rampage show was sixth youngest skewing sports show for the week, behind four NBA games and AEW’s Dynamite show.

In an interesting note, that week’s AEW Rampage show also went head-to-head against a replay of that night’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FS1. The replay of SmackDown drew 278,000 viewers and a 0.09 key demographic rating. Meltzer reported that in terms of key demographic group victories, SmackDown’s intital airing topped Rampage in overall key demographic viewership (373,000 vs. 320,000), overall key demographic ratings, Males 35-49, and Females 35-49 demographic viewership. Rampage managed to top SmackDown in Males 18-34 and Females 18-34 demographic viewership.

AEW Rampage started off with around 618,000 viewers and had around 662,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 599,000 viewers for their third quarter, and had around 613,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the Trick or Treat No Disqualification match of Britt Baker vs. Abadon.
