WWE: Petey Williams Invited for Backstage Tryout, NXT Talent Invited for Dark Match Tryouts, Goldberg

WWE Reportedly Gave Impact’s Petey Williams a Producer Tryout

WWE reportedly recently gave Impact Wrestling talent Petey Williams a tryout for a potential backstage producer job in the company, according to PWInsider and Fightful.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Williams was seen backstage during this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The reason for his appearance was due to WWE officials had invited him for a producer tryout at the show. Johnson reported that this is not the first time Williams has been involved in a backstage producer role since he had done the same in Impact Wrestling, most recently at Impact’s Bound For Glory 2021 event and following Impact! television tapings.

Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert reported that their sources stated that Williams’ backstage appearance was something that had been in the works by both sides over the course of the past several weeks.

Goldberg Comments on WWE Contract Status & Silencing Critics with His Match at Crown Jewel 2021

Ring Rules held a recent interview with Goldberg. One of the topics discussed included Goldberg revealing that he has one more match remaining on his current WWE contract.

“I still feel as though I can wrestle. I still feel as though I can entertain. I have one more after this match, I have one more match on my contract and that’s it. We’ll see what happens. You never know.”

In a recent episode of the CarCast podcast, co-host Goldberg gave his thoughts about him feeling that he has finally quieted his critics about his ring work performance quality in WWE following his match against Bobby Lashley at WWE’s Crown Jewel 2021 event earlier this month.

“I don’t have the best track record in Saudi Arabia. I’ve knocked myself out, I’ve dropped the Undertaker on his head. I needed to redeem myself. I’m not happy with my performance, but I’m satisfied with it to a point where I think it shut all these fuckers up, finally.”

Goldberg also gave his thoughts about his recent knee injury and match with Lashley at the event.

“The knee hurt, it is what it is. The fact is, I hurt every day in my life. It’s just all relative. My brace held up well, fortunately. He went after my knee again. It is what it is. I dropped the hammer on his ass at the end. If you want to know about me and Bobby behind the scenes, let’s just say that Gage Goldberg is Wanda and I’s son and there is no frickin way that I would let anyone on this planet touch him if I didn’t love and trust him. Bobby is a great individual and I wanted for years to be able to have a program with him. I’m just honored that he let me do it. It was fun. Getting some payback and kicking his ass in the end was icing on top of the cake.”
