AEW Week 105 Viewership Update
As noted before, the October 6th episode of AEW Dynamite resulted in Dynamite drawing around 1,053,000 viewers, a 0.37 key demographic rating, and a 4th place key demographic ranking on TNT.
This week’s issue of the Wresting Observer Newsletter provided more details for AEW’s show that week.
Dave Meltzer reported that AEW’s peak for overall key demographic viewership was their main event quarter at 527,000 viewers, which featured the Casino Ladder match. Meltzer reported that the main event quarter was also the high point for all of AEW’s demographic viewership groups with the exception of their Females 18-34 and 35-49 groups. AEW’s lowest point was their fifth quarter at 448,000 viewers, which featured the Darby Allin interview segment, the Allin vs. Nick Comoroto match, Dark Order backstage segment, and the Dante Martin & Malakai Black in-ring segment.
In regards to overall viewership, AEW’s peak was 1,118,000 viewers for their main event quarter. AEW’s lowest point was 999,000 for their fifth quarter, which was also the only quarter to not hit the one million and over overall viewership mark.
AEW’s biggest gain of the night was the Casino Ladder match which gained 100,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Darby Allin interview segment, the Allin vs. Nick Comoroto match, Dark Order backstage segment, and the Dante Martin & Malakai Black in-ring segment which lost 92,000 viewers.
More on WWE NXT Viewership for October 12th
The October 12th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a slight increase in key demographic ratings.
NXT drew 632,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 33rd place.
Detailed demographic and quarter-hours breakdowns were not available in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s slight increase in key demographic ratings this week was due to the lower sports competition that night in terms of overall viewership and direct head-to-head time. NXT also benefited from a much higher than usual younger key demographic viewership and Teenagers viewership, which was up 47.7% and 125% respectively compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB Playoffs Game 4 of San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers drew 5,145,000 viewers on TBS and the NHL game of Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Tampa Bay Lightning drew 983,000 viewers on ESPN.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 195,000 viewers.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 1.1% in overall viewership but down 2.5% in key demographic viewership.
More on AEW Rampage Viewership for October 8th
The October 8th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decrease in both overall viewership and key demographic ratings.
AEW Rampage drew 502,000 viewers and a 0.17 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for this week’s show was 15th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s Rampage show that week topped the October 1st show as the lowest viewership for a Rampage show in series history. Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW Rampage’s decline that week was due to very stiff sports competition and the very large declines suffered in their overall key demographic and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were down 31.8% and 50% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB Playoffs Game 1 of Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Fransisco Giants drew 3,982,000 viewers on TBS, the MLB Playoffs Game 2 of Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays drew 2,618,000 viewers on FS1, and the College Football game of Stanford Cardinals vs. Arizona State Sin Devils drew 1,134,000 viewers on ESPN.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 225,000 viewers. All four of AEW’s key demographic groups were down with the biggest being their Males 18-34 group at 60% lower than the prior week’s show.
AEW Rampage started off with around 568,000 viewers and had around 503,000 viewers for their second quarter, around 474,000 viewers for their third quarter, and around 463,000 viewers for their main event quarter featuring the FTW Championship Philly Street Fight match of Brian Cage vs. Ricky Starks (c).
