More on WWE NXT Viewership for July 6

The July 6th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a slight increase in overall viewership and a sizable increase in key demographic ratings. This week’s episode was notable for being a Great American Bash 2021 themed special.

NXT drew 654,000 viewers and a 0.18 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic rating for that night is currently not known.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that despite very stiff sports competition from the NBA, the main reason for NXT’s increases this week was due to the large gains in their older key demographic viewership. In regards to head-to-head competition, the NBA Finals Game 1 of Milwaukee Bucks vs. Phoenix Suns drew 8,556,000 viewers on ABC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 232,000 viewers. All four of NXT’s key demographic increased or were even with their biggest increase being their Females 35-49 group at 65.7% higher than last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 13.8% in overall viewership and down 11.5% in key demographic viewership.

WWE NXT started off with around 713,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the NXT Breakout tournament field introduction segment and the bulk of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship match of Zoey Stark & Io Shirai vs. The Way (Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae) which gained 23,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the latter half of the Hit Row North American Championship celebration musical segment and the start of the Kyle O’Reilly vs. Adam Cole match which lost 66,000 viewers. NXT’s overrun gained an additional 77,000 viewers to end the night.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 7

The July 7th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a slight decline in both overall viewership and key demographic ratings. This week’s show was notable for being a Road Ranger themed special.

AEW drew 871,000 viewers and a 0.33 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night is currently not known.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to them suffering a sizable decline in their younger key demographic viewership. In regards to head-to-head competition, the NHL Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 of Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning drew 3,510,000 viewers on NBC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 422,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest increase was with their Females 35-49 group at 23.6% higher than last week’s show. AEW’s biggest decline was with their Females 18-34 group at 34.3% lower than last week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 21.8% in overall viewership and up 15.9% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 994,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Andrade vs. Matt Sydal match, the Christian Cage vs. Matt Hardy match hype video package, and the Malakai Black debut segment with Arn Anderson & Cody Rhodes which gained 57,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Inner Circle (Santana, Ortiz, & Jake Hager) vs. The Pinnacle (FTR & Wardlow) 6-Man Tag Team match which lost 71,000 viewers.
