More on WWE NXT Viewership for June 22

The June 22nd episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer notable declines in both overall viewership and key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 665,000 viewers and a 0.17 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show reportedly was 23rd place.

This week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided more details for that week’s NXT show.

Dave Meltzer reported that NXT’s overall viewership that week drew the lowest ever for an unopposed show since their move to the USA Network. Meltzer reported that when factoring in DVR viewership up until 3AM EST, the split was 579,000 viewers live and 86,000 DVR viewers. In regards to head-to-head competition, the NBA Payoffs Game 2 of Los Angeles Clippers vs. Phoenix Suns drew 5,265,000 viewers on ESPN and the NHL Playoffs Game 5 of Montreal Canadiens vs. Vegas Golden Knights drew 963,000 viewers on NBCSN.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 224,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest increase was with their Females 18-34 group at 53.8% higher than the prior week’s show. NXT’s sole decline was with their Males 35-49 group at 19.6% lower than the prior week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 10.9% in overall viewership and down 7.4% in key demographic viewership.

WWE NXT started off with around 726,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Oney Lorcan & Pete Dune vs. Johnny Gargano & Austin Theory match which gained 8,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the Ever-Rise & Top Dolla parking lot segment, the Hit Row vs. Ever-Rise match, and the Mercedes Martinez interview and brawl segment with Tian Sha and Jake Atlas which lost 46,000 viewers. NXT’s overrun gained an additional 32,000 viewers to end the night.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 26

The June 26th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership. That week’s show was notable for Dynamite airing on a Saturday due to TNT’s current NBA Playoffs commitments.

AEW drew 649,000 viewers and a 0.21 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show reportedly was 9th place.

This week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided more details for that week’s AEW show.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for AEW’s overall viewership increase that week was due to a very strong viewership for the main event match of Jungle Boy vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship. Meltzer reported that another main reason was the very strong gains in AEW’s overall 18-34 demographic group (+104.7%) and their female key demographic viewership (+74.2%) from the start of the show to the main event. When factoring in DVR viewership up until 3AM EST, the split reportedly was 461,000 live viewers and 208,000 DVR viewers. In regards to head-to-head competition, the NBA Playoffs Game 4 of Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Clippers drew 5,543,000 viewers on ESPN and the MLB game of New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox drew 2,427,000 viewers on FOX.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 277,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest increase was with their Males 18-34 group at 72.2% higher than the prior week’s show. AEW’s sole decrease was with their Females 35-49 group at 27% lower than the prior week’s show.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 2.5% in overall viewership but down 2.8% in key demographic viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 601,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Bunny vs. Kris Statlander match and post-match attack angle with The Blade and Orange Cassidy which gained 80,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Young Bucks & Brandon Cutler interview segment and the Konnan & Tully Blanchard face-to-face interview and FTR ambush attack segment which lost 33,000 viewers.
