As noted before, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are both currently rumored to be signing deals with AEW.
In regards to CM Punk, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE had not shown any interest in recent times in potentially signing Punk to a contract with the company. Meltzer speculated that due to the recent rumors of Punk being in talks with AEW, WWE might end up changing their minds and try to snag him away from their main rival. AEW CEO Tony Khan reportedly had plans in 2019 for the launch of AEW to feature Punk as one of the original core talents to build the company around.
In regards to Daniel Bryan, Melzter reported that his sources have yet to confirm nor deny the rumors of Bryan signing with AEW and making his official debut at AEW’s Dynamite Grand Slam show on September 22nd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City, New York. Bryan and AEW officials reportedly have been in talks these past few months regarding a potential deal with the company. A key factor in these talks reportedly involve Bryan being allowed to also work for New Japan Pro Wrestling and indie events in the United States.
In regards to Tony Khan’s AEW signing plans for this summer, Meltzer reported that Khan had been hopeful since this past June of being able to finalize two new major talent deals for the company that would go along with two smaller in status but important new deals, which were Andrade and Malakai Black.
