Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that based on early estimates, this past Sunday’s Double or Nothing 2021 event could end up with the second highest pay-per-view buys in AEW history.
Meltzer reported that the streaming numbers from the United States were around 12% higher than last year’s Double or Nothing event, which generated around 120,000 total PPV buys and had been the previous all-time record for the company prior to Revolution 2021.
Meltzer also reported that the early numbers from traditional cable PPV buys were also higher than last year’s Double or Nothing event.
Meltzer reported in Sunday’s Daily Update that the advance PPV orders numbers from one notable national television cable PPV provider was around 9% higher than AEW’s Revolution 2021 from this past March.
In regards to Google, Meltzer reported that AEW’s Double or Nothing 2021 event was ranked #13th for the day with around 50,000 Google searches. Meltzer reported that this was well below the 200,000 searches amount that Revolution 2021 had generated and also well below what WWE typically averages for their pay-per-view events.
