WWE & MLW Partnership Talks Update
As noted before, WWE is currently rumored to be in talks with Major League Wrestling regarding the potential of a working partnership between the two companies.
Fightful Select reported that their sources within WWE confirmed that talks between the two companies over a potential partnership deal have happened recently. It was reported that many within NXT were left in the dark regarding these talks until news of the rumor was made public.
It was also reported that talks between both companies “go high up” but details regarding the actual talks are currently unknown.
MLW News & Notes
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Major League Wrestling will be holding an event in Dallas, Texas on September 11th. Johnson also reported that the company currently has other dates for shows booked between July and November that will be officially announced “shortly.”
Johnson also reported that the company is currently in the process of signing some talents to new contracts and overhauling their roster in a major way. Johnson reported that one source stated that the company is putting a “focus on bringing in high profile talent.”
MLW officials reportedly still have long-term plans to do a MLW Champion Jacob Fatu vs. MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone match at a major event in front of a live crowd.
MLW officials reportedly have been very happy with the way Calvin Tankman’s current push has proceeded in the company.
Misc. Wrestling News & Notes
VICE TV announced that they will be airing a Dark Side of the Ring series marathon on their network this Thursday starting at 8:30PM and leading into Season 3’s official premiere at 9:30PM with the first of two Brian Pillman episodes.
All Japan Pro Wrestling held their Champions Carnival 2021 Finals event this past Monday which featured Jake Lee defeating Kento Miyahara to be crowned the winner of this year’s tournament.
Ring of Honor announced that Lenny Leonard will be making his official return to the company this summer as a member of their commentary team for their upcoming Women’s World Championship tournament. The company also announced that an official competitor for this upcoming tournament will be revealed this Wednesday.
Chelsea Green announced on Instagram that she recently underwent surgery to remove a metal plate from her arm. This metal plate had been in her arm since November of 2020 following surgery for a wrist injury she suffered on her official main roster debut for WWE’s SmackDown brand.
Television cable network Starz recently released the debut trailer for their upcoming wrestling-based drama television series called Heels. The first season was also revealed to premiere on August 15, 2021.
