As noted before, WWE made several shakeups to their corporate office this past week. The most notable was the firing of Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano due to his association with the sending of Mickie James’ personal belongings in a trash bag and its resulting online fallout.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that WWE also recently released their Chief Marketing and Communications officer Brian Flinn from the company. Flinn had worked for the company for the past nine years and his release was stated to not have been related to Carrano’s firing.
Johnson also reported that Dan Engler, known as referee Rudy Charles, was removed from his management position in the company’s Talent Relations department. Engler reportedly will be continuing his refereeing duties for the company.
In regards to referee John Cone, Johnson reported that he was reinstated back as a Senior Manager for WWE’s Talent Relations department.
Besides the recent corporate releases, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE recently hired three new high level executives. Meltzer reported that Chris Legentil was hired as the new Head of Global Communications, Scott Zanghhellini was hired as the new Head of Revenue Strategy and Development, and Alex Varga was hired as the new Vice President of Revenue Strategy and Development for the company. Meltzer reported that all three hirings were made by WWE President Nick Khan as part of his shakeup of the company’s upper management team. Khan reportedly had previously worked with Zanghhellini and Varga during his career.
While not a corporate level hiring, WWE announced that they have recently hired Megan Morant, real name Megan O’Brien, to be their new backstage interviewer for their SmackDown brand. Prior to her hiring, Morant had worked as a broadcaster for the New England Patriots and CBS Sports Network.
