WWE debuted a new series this past week titled “The 50 Greatest” on both the WWE Network and NBC’s Peacock. The first season of this new series was subtitled “WWE 50 Greatest Women Superstars” and was hosted by Sarah Schreiber. This five-part series featured a countdown to the top women’s wrestler in WWE’s modern era history.
WWEs criteria for their list was stated to be “heavily based on in-ring accomplishments, championship victories, and creating legendary moments.” WWE’s definition for the modern era of women’s wrestling was stated to be from 1993 to the present.

Besides those listed in Top 50, other notable women throughout WWE’s history were also acknowledged in two video packages that aired during the series.
A video package honoring the pre-modern era greats in the ring featured Wendi Richter, Leilani Kai, The Fabulous Moolah, The Jumping Bomb Angels (Noriyo Tateno & Itsuki Yamazaki), Sensational Sherri, Rockin Robin, and Mae Young.
A second video packaging honoring those who made a name for themselves outside of the ring featured Miss Elizabeth, Stacey Keibler, Sharmell, Jillian Hall, Vickie Guerrero, Sapphire, Nidia, Debra, Terri Runnels, Sunny, and Torrie Wilson.
