The March 10th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw AEW suffer a large drop in overall viewership while NXT mostly remained the same as last week. AEW continued their advantage over NXT in regards to key demographic viewership. This week’s AEW show was notable for being their post-PPV show for Revolution 2021.
AEW drew 743,000 viewers and a #4 ranking in the 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 691,000 and a #25 ranking in the 18-49 demographic.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the overall viewership numbers for both AEW and NXT can be considered as a disappointment due to AEW coming off of a very hyped pay-per-view event and NXT having a stacked card with three title matches and two major announcements. Meltzer reported that the bulk of AEW’s losses came from older viewers who only watched last week’s show for Shaquille O’Neal’s tag team match. NXT reportedly lost a sizeable amount of their younger viewers who had tuned in to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that while there was a lack of stiff sports competition, South Park’s “vaccination” special dominated the ratings for that night.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 415,000 viewers while NXT had 229,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest increase was with their Females 35-49 group at 15.3% higher while their sole decline was with their Males 18-34 group at 31.8% compared to last week’s show. NXT’s sole gain was with their Males 18-34 group at 24.1% while their biggest decline was with their Females 35-49 group at 24% lower than last week’s show.
In terms of quarter-hour viewership, AEW reportedly won all eight quarters for both overall viewership and key demographic viewership.
In terms of the main event quarter, AEW reportedly had 742,000 for overall viewership and 391,000 for key demographic viewership. NXT reportedly had 631,000 for overall viewership and 213,000 for key demographic viewership.
