Jack Evans reportedly “got heat from the people you don’t want heat with” in AEW after inadvertently busting open the Dark Order’s 10 in the main event of AEW Dark that aired this past Tuesday, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Towards the end of the match between Evans and 10, Evans hit a top rope Phoenix Splash and his elbow landed on 10’s face, busting him open. 10 was dripping blood from either his mouth or nose after the move and “needed work done after,” Meltzer says. They went right to the finish, with 10 winning via a full nelson.
Brodie Lee’s son “-1” accompanied 10 to the ring and after the match, ran in as planned and gave 10 a fist bump, which led to some criticism of AEW because of the visual of a kid in the ring next to a guy with blood pouring from his face.
The match was also described by Meltzer as a “bad match,” which was implied to also be a reason for the “heat,” but it’s not clear if those are Meltzer’s words or the words of his source.
Evans was not in his tag team partner Angelico’s corner this past Wednesday on Dynamite during Angelico’s match with Rey Fenix, but it’s also not clear if that’s related.
