Producers of Matches at Royal Rumble 2021 Event
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that the following people were the producers of the matches at this past Sunday’s WWE Royal Rumble event:
- Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns, Universal Championship Last Man Standing match – Michael Hayes.
- Goldberg vs. Drew McIntyre, WWE Championship match – Chris “Abyss” Park.
- Carmella vs. Sasha Banks, SmackDown Women’s Championship match – TJ Wilson.
- Men’s Royal Rumble match – Shane McMahon, Jason Jordan, Jamie Noble, and several others not revealed.
- Women’s Royal Rumble match – Adam Pearce, TJ Wilson, Pat Buck, and several others not revealed.
Johnson reported that it has not been confirmed yet who was the producer for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match that was held during the Royal Rumble’s Kickofff Show.
In regards to the 24/7 Championship title changes at the event, Johnson reported that the reason why Peter Rosenberg won the title was due to WWE officials simply wanting the WWE brand to be shown to mainstream sports fans on The Michael Kay Show, which airs on the YES Network.
Rhea Ripley Status Update
This past Sunday’s Royal Rumble event featured Rhea Ripley as one of the surprise entrants in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that her appearance during the event was meant to be her official main roster debut. Johnson reported that at the moment, WWE officials have yet to make a final decision regarding which brand she will assigned to.
Men’s Royal Rumble Match Sets New All-Time Record for Oldest Ever
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match set a new all-time record for oldest average age of entrants in Royal Rumble history. The previous record reportedly was held by last year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match.
Meltzer reported that of all the entrants in this year’s match, only two were under the age of thirty, which were Otis and Dominik, while sixteen entrants were 40 years or older.
