Tony Khan Clarifies “Balance of Power” Comments, Talks NJPW Relationship & New AEW Show

Balance of Power

Before Dynamite last night, Tony Khan tweeted, “the balance of power in wrestling will shift tonight.”

After the show, he posted followup tweets, promising “indelible moments” and “aces up [his] sleeves” in the months to come.

He also commented to PWInsider:

“There’s more to come, Pac coming back is the beginning of a huge push for the rest of the year, as I said in my last tweet just now. Balance of power in storyline refers to Eddie [Kingston]’s strong power base as a character which could be threatened, but it also refers to the big push AEW is making for the rest of the year into and through December and into 2021.”

NJPW Relationship

Khan was also interviewed by TSN and spoke about a potential relationship with NJPW:

“With New Japan, it’s been a little more one-sided where we’ve sent people there and I haven’t really had people from New Japan show up on my TV [programming] yet. I’d like to see more of a two-sided relationship there because I’m honestly one of the easiest people to work with in wrestling. We’ve worked with NWA, we’ve worked with AAA and we’ve sent people to New Japan. I think with Harold being gone, I don’t know if it’s going to be easier, but I have a feeling it might be.”

Second TNT Show

In the same interview, Khan also gave an update on the second AEW TNT show, saying that it’s 100% coming in 2021.

“It’s going to launch in 2021. We’ve worked it out with TNT. It’s 100 per cent going to launch in 2021. I don’t have the exact date yet, but I would look out for it soon and it’s right around the corner.”
