More on AEW vs. NXT Week 57 Viewership
The November 4th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw both shows decline in overall viewership and key demographic ratings with NXT suffering the worst out of the two. AEW also managed to maintain their advantage over NXT in key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 717,000 viewers and a #56 ranking in the 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 610,000 and a #68 ranking in the 18-49 demographic.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for the big decline in both shows was due to news coverage of the 2020 Presidential Election. Meltzer reported that all of the Top 50 shows for this past Wednesday were news-related shows covering the election results. In terms of non-news shows, AEW reportedly was ranked #2 while NXT was ranked #13.
Due to neither show being ranked in the Top 50 for the night, detailed demographic breakdowns were not available for this week. Meltzer reported that AEW had more female viewers in the 18-34 demographic group while NXT manage to draw less than half of what AEW did for each key demographic group except for Females 35-49 demographic group.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW reportedly had 383,000 viewers while NXT had 181,000 viewers. AEW’s only gain was with the Males 35-49 group at 3.4% higher than last week’s show while their biggest decline was with the Females 35-49 group at 23.3% lower than last week’s show. All of the key demographic groups for NXT reportedly were down with their biggest decline being the Males 18-34 group at 79% lower than last week’s show.
In terms of quarter-hour breakdowns, AEW reportedly won every quarter in key demographic viewership and six out of the eight quarters in overall viewership. NXT reportedly won the first two quarters for overall viewership. In terms of average viewership age, Meltzer reported that AEW skewed slightly younger than last week’s show while NXT skewed at their oldest average ever at 60 years old.
AEW Dynamite started off with around 707,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the ending of the Miro vs. Trent match and post-match brawl which gained 51,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Dark Order vs. Gunn Club & Cody match which lost 52,000 viewers.
WWE NXT reportedly started off with around 723,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Killian Dain & Drake Maverick vs. Ever Rise match, the Pat McAfee group run-in attack, and McAfee’s promo segment which gained 32,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the bulk of the KUSHIDA vs. Cameron Grimes match which lost 72,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that NXT had a one-minute overrun this week although did not state the amount of viewership, if any, it contributed to the show.
