WWE SmackDown kicks off with the red Hell in a Cell hanging above the ring. In the ring is Kevin Owens with a microphone.
Owens welcomes everyone to the first edition of the Kevin Owens show in his new home, SmackDown. Owens says his first guest on SmackDown is a former 4 time WWE Champion and one of the most technically skilled competitors to ever step foot in the ring, the leader of the Yes movement, Daniel Bryan.
Out comes Bryan to the ring as both men have a seat. Owens thanks him for mentioning him last week when talking about the list of superstars he is looking forward to facing on SmackDown. Owens says he is looking forward to it as well and they have done it in the past. Bryan says they pushed each other to be better and that’s what he wants everyone to have. Owens says Bryan has been vocal about what the future of SmackDown should look like.
Bryan says he wants SmackDown to highlight the best superstars in the world and with the talent they have, they have nailed it. They have the best fresh young talent in the world. Guys like Jey Uso, Big E, guys are stepping it up. One thing that would make SmackDown better for everyone is to have a Championship defended every week on SmackDown and in his view, that Championship should be the Intercontinental Championship.
Owens says it’s a great idea and he is flattered that he is suggesting that for such a role and he is pumped he brought up Championships. Owens says he wanted to talk to him about Championships, the Tag Team Championships. Owens says he has never been a Tag Team Champion as Bryan says he has crossed a few people. Owens says he will ignore that and he has a name called Hell KO. Bryan says that would be like him teaming with Kane. Owens says they can work on the name later but they would be even better than he and Kane.
Out comes Ziggler and Roode. Ziggler says he heard Danny talk about hot fresh young talent and he must have been talking about them. Ziggler says they like to party and Owens had a party and they weren’t invited. Roode says they were talking about a fantasy tag team when they should be talking about them. And they are the greatest tag team on the planet.
The Street Profits come out and interrupt. Ford says they are starting this Friday night party like this. Dawkins says especially when these two look like they just stepped out of 1984 as Dawkins says they didn’t forget what they did last week. Ford says they are so excited to be on Friday Night SmackDown because The Street Profits are up and they want the smoke.
Out come Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro to the ring. Cesaro says they have carried the SmackDown Tag Team division for months. Bryan tells Kevin they should test the theory of how good of a tag team they would be right now. A brawl breaks out between all eight men as the bell rings and out comes Adam Pearce.
Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens & The Street Profits vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode
Back from commercial and the match is under way. Nakamura is in the ring with Owens and Owens with an atomic drop followed by a clothesline. The running senton as Dawkins is tagged in. Nakamura with a knee to the body as Cesaro is tagged in. They double team Dawkins as Cesaro goes for the cover but Dawkins kicks out. Roode is tagged in and they double team Dawkins.
Roode stomping on Dawkins as he goes for a jumping elbow but Dawkins moves out of the way. Ford is tagged in and they double team Roode. Ford goes for the cover but Roode kicks out. Ford sends Roode to the ropes as Ziggler is tagged in and he hits Ford with a drop kick. Ziggler goes for the cover but Ford kicks out. Roode is tagged back in and they double team Ford. Roode with a back breaker. He goes for the cover but Ford kicks out. Cesaro is tagged in. They double team Ford.
Cesaro with an uppercut and Nakamura is tagged in. They double team on Ford in the corner. Nakamura with a snap mare followed by a knee to the face. He goes for the cover but Ford kicks out. Cesaro tagged back in and they double team Ford but Ford fights back and hits Cesaro with an enzuigiri. Bryan is tagged in and an uppercut by Bryan onto Cesaro as Cesaro goes to the outside. A suicide dive by Bryan onto the outside. He throws Cesaro back in and Bryan with a cross body off the top rope but Cesaro catches him. Bryan reverses it and lands a running kick onto Cesaro. He runs towards Cesaro but Cesaro throws him towards the corner, Bryan jumps off the second rope and backwards over Cesaro. Bryan lands on his feet and tweaks his ankle. Cesaro throws Bryan to the outside and starts to stomp on him.
Back from commercial, Cesaro and Bryan are in the ring as Roode is tagged in. Roode slams Bryan’s leg onto his knee. Ziggler is tagged in and he goes after Bryan’s leg. Bryan with a right hand but Ziggler takes Bryan down. Cesaro is tagged in and he goes after Bryan’s leg. Ziggler is tagged in. Ziggler goes for the drop kick but Bryan catches Ziggler and sling shots him into the turnbuckle. Roode is tagged in and he slams Bryan’s leg knee on to the mat.
Roode with a chop to the chest as he places Bryan on the top rope. Roode on the second rope as Bryan knocks him down. Bryan off the top rope lands a drop kick. Dawkins is tagged in as is Nakamura. Dawkins knocks him down with a spinning elbow. A flap jack onto Cesaro followed by a drop kick on Ziggler. Dawkins with a bulldog onto Nakamura. He goes for the cover but Nakamura kicks out. Nakamura is sent to the ropes but a kick to the face takes Dawkins down. Nakamura goes for the cover but Dawkins kicks out. Cesaro is tagged in and they double team Dawkins. Cesaro goes for the cover but Owens breaks it up.
Owens throws Nakamura to the outside and lands a stunner on Roode. Ziggler with a DDT onto Owens as Dawkins clothesline Ziggler to the outside. Cesaro rolls Dawkins up and goes for the cover with his feet on the ropes. The referee sees it and stops the count. Dawkins with a spine buster. Ford is tagged in and a frog splash onto Cesaro. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Segment: Law and Otis
We cut to court where we see Otis, the brief case, Morrison and Miz n the court room. Ron Simmons welcomes judge Bradshaw Layfield as the judge. Miz is suing Otis and the opening statement by Miz. He says your honor, I am here for the truth. Miz says case law is on his side, the truth is on his side. And the defendant has victimized him physically and emotionally. He has not upheld the responsibility required as Money in the Bank winner. Miz says he wants the briefcase and that is the truth.
Otis says he has an opening statement. He thinks he deserves the contract because he won the Money in the Bank ladder match. He sits back down. Miz’s lawyer says that’s a good argument as Miz fires her.
Backstage: Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, The Street Profits, Sami Zayn
The Street Profits along with Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan are celebrating backstage. In comes Sami Zayn as he congratulates him and he tells Bryan he heard him bad mouthing him. Zayn says he doesn’t share his vision and he says the Intercontinental Championship is his. He dictates the terms and he has already successfully defended it and he even beat him for it. He tells Bryan to keep his visions to himself because as long as he is the Intercontinental Champion, he will do things his way.
Bianca Belair vs. Zelina Vega
The bell rings and we are under way. Bianca gets Vega in the corner as Vega climbs up the top rope and Bianca throws her off. Bianca goes to grab Vega but Vega kicks her away. Vega goes for an arm bar but Bianca slams her onto the mat. Bianca sends Vega to the ropes but a shoulder tackle by Bianca takes Vega down.
A standing moonsault by Bianca. She grabs Vega but Vega kicks her away. Vega off the top rope and a hurricanrana onto Belair. Vega runs towards Bianca but Bianca hits her with a right hand. Bianca grabs Vega and she press slams Vega while walking around the ring and she throws Vega onto the top turnbuckle. Belair with the KOD. She goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: Bianca Belair
Shorty G vs. Lars Sullivan
Kayla is in the ring with Shorty G and she asks him why he would accept a match against Lars Sullivan. He says he has had enough, he can’t get drafted to Raw or SmackDown and he has to right the ship. He is calling Sullivan out and he will prove he belongs.
The bell rings and we are under way. Gable jumps off the second rope but Sullivan catches him and a fall away slam. Sullivan sends Gable to the ropes and slams him into the mat. Sullivan places Shorty G on his shoulders but Gable with a rake to the eyes. Gable with a bowling spin. He goes for another one but Lars moves out of the way.
Sullivan throws Gable across the ring. A clothesline onto Gable. Sullivan with the Freak Accident. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: Lars Sullivan
Kayla asks Shorty G how he feels. Gable says “I quit.”
Backstage: Seth Rollins
Alyse is backstage with Seth Rollins. She asks him about Murphy. Rollins says his disciple Murphy, the guy he guided and he disrespected him. Rollins says his idea of fun is what he will do to Murphy tonight. He says Murphy needs to understand is that the greater good is all of us. We all have a role to play. Seth calls himself a Messiah and Murphy a disciple. he is a savior, Murphy is a walk behind. There’s no shame in that. Tonight he will define Murphy’s role for him.
Backstage: Chad Gable
Adam Pearce is backstage with Shorty G and he asks him if what he heard is correct. Shorty G says he quits being Shorty G. He doesn’t accept this Shorty G crap. He is done being the punching bag. “Just accept who you are and you can achieve anything,” no they can’t. They can’t achieve anything they want and neither can Shorty G. There’s only one man that can achieve anything he wants. An Olympian, state, national, world championship. A man with a list of achievements so big, it has to be seen to believe. And his name is Gable. Chad Gable.
In-Ring: Bayley, Sasha Banks
Bayley is in the ring and she says she is feeling annoyed that she has to address this tonight. She says this morning she did four interviews and they kept asking the same questions about Sasha Banks. No matter what she does, she can’t get away from her. They asked her if she is afraid. She says she isn’t afraid, Sasha doesn’t deserve the Women’s Championship.
She says the last thing she wants is to give Sasha what she wants. She says Sasha is an even bigger pain than she was before. Last week Sasha says she is Sasha Banks and her name is bigger than Bayley’s title. Bayley says she doesn’t think so and she thinks Sasha’s head got so big, she won’t even fit in Hell in a Cell. But she didn’t and won’t sign the contract. She knows Sasha likes to call herself the boss well ding dong, you aren’t the boss of her.
Out comes Sasha Banks with a contract in her hands. Sasha gets in the ring as the two argue. Sasha says Bayley started it and she will finish it. Bayley grabs the chair and goes to hi Sasha but Sasha ducks and grabs the Women’s Championship. Bayley tells her to give her title back. Sasha tells Bayley to sign the contract.
Bayley says she will sign it as she goes to grab the Championship but Sasha hits Bayley with a knee to the face. She places Bayley’s head in between the chair and presses on it. She tells Bayley to sign the contract but Bayley tries to fight back. Sasha goes for a head lock with Bayley’s head in between the chair. Bayley signs the contract as Sasha lets go of the hold and she kicks Bayley down.
Sasha grabs the Women’s Championship and tells Bayley on Sunday, she will take the title and finish what she started.
Segment: Law and Otis
Back in the court room, Morrison tells Miz that Otis assaulted him. Morrison says they have endured trauma. Not just physical scars but the scars inside.
Rey Mysterio is on the stand and he says he was in the Money in the Bank match. Eight walked in and one walked out and that was Otis. And he should be able to cash in the contract any time he wants. Asuka is on the stand speaking in Japanese. The camera pans not JBL who asks Teddy Long if he got any of that and he says every single word playa. Asuka yells holla, holla, holla.
Tucker is on the stand and he says Miz got Mandy traded to Raw. Miz asks Tucker that he deserves the damage caused by Otis? Tucker says yes. And is it true that Otis neglected the contract. Tucker says since Miz got involved, all he could think of is Miz. And now that he thinks of it, he wants to beat the Miz up. JBL and Ron Simmons tell everyone to be quiet. Bradshaw tells they will take a quick recess as Teddy Long says he has to pee.
Back in the court room after commercials, JBL is back. He tells everyone to be seated. JBL says something is missing and that is the truth. He is supposed to believe that Otis is responsible for emotional distress, destruction of property and creating an unsafe work environment. He’s a WWE superstar, that is a job description. If those were crimes, he and Ron Simmons would be serving life sentences.
It’s true that Otis has not cashes in yet but that’s not negligence. The winner has a full year to cash in. After deliberation, he has no choice but to rule in favor as The Miz cuts him off. Miz says he forgot to submit a key piece of evidence. JBL says he has let him interrupt this entire trial. Miz says he really thinks he wants to admit this evidence. Simmons grabs a black briefcase and hands it over to JBL who opens it.
We hear the cash sound as JBL smiles. He closes the briefcase and keeps it with him. JBL says in light of the new evidence, he has to rule in favor of the Miz. JBL says he is ordered to face The Miz at Hell in a Cell and the winner gets to keep the Money in the Bank briefcase.
Seth Rollins vs. Murphy
The bell rings and we are under way. An arm bar by Murphy as he takes Seth down. Seth reverses it and an arm bar on Murphy in the middle of the ring. Murphy reverses it and Seth reverses it. Murphy with a head lock as Seth gets out of it. A right hand by Seth takes Murphy down.
Seth with a head lock take down. Murphy back up and a right hand gets Seth in the corner. Seth to the outside. Murphy goes to the outside and a back body drop as Seth lands on the announce table.
Back from commercial, Murphy on the top rope but Seth kicks him down to the outside. Aalyah is backstage and in come Rey and Dominik telling her to leave as Aalyah tells them no.
Back in the ring, Seth goes for the cover but Murphy kicks out. A waist lock by Seth as Murphy tries to get out of it but Seth throws him into the corner. A kick to the face by Murphy who climbs the second rope and lands a drop kick. A clothesline by Murphy takes Seth down and he throws Seth to the outside. Murphy runs to the ropes and flies over the top rope onto Seth on the outside. Seth is thrown back into the ring as Murphy climbs the top rope. Murphy with the meteora.
Murphy looks hurt as he goes for the cover but Seth kicks out. Murphy rolls to the outside as he tries to pop his shoulder back into place. Seth with a suicide dive through the ropes and he throws Murphy back in the ring. Seth climbs off the top rope and he hits Murphy with a flying knee. He goes for the cover but Murphy kicks out. Murphy rolls onto the ring apron as Seth gets on the ring apron.
Seth slams the injured arm on the ring apron. We see Aalyah backstage concerned.
Back from commercial, Murphy goes for a sunset flip off the top rope but Murphy’s arm gives up. He lands on his feet and picks Seth up and Seth lands on his feet. Seth with the buckle bomb. Seth runs to the ropes but Murphy with a running knee to the face. Murphy goes for the cover but Seth kicks out. Both men back on their feet and Seth with a back elbow knocking Murphy down.
Seth starts to beat up on Murphy in the ring. He knocks Murphy down with a right hand. Murphy back up and both men with right hands as Seth hits him with an enzuigiri. Murphy goes for a small package but Seth kicks out. A round house right hand by Seth followed by the falcon arrow. Seth goes for the cover but Murphy kicks out. Seth goes for the stomp, Murphy moves, Seth goes for the stomp again, Murphy moves out of the way, Seth climbs the second rope and Murphy with a kick to the face. Murphy places Seth on his shoulders but Seth lands on his feet, he kicks Murphy and lands the stomp. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: Seth Rollins
After the match, Seth grabs a kendo stick as we cut to the back and Aalyah tells Rey and Dominik to go help Murphy. They both say no as she walks off. Seth grabs the kendo and gets in the ring as Aalyah walks down to the ring. Seth asks her what she will do, where’s her back up? He starts hitting Murphy with the kendo stick as she gets in the ring and stops it. Dominik runs down as Seth leaves the ring. Dominik asks her what she is doing and tells her it’s not their business.
Seth attacks Dominik from behind and out comes Rey with a steel chair. He gets in the ring as Seth leaves the ring. Murphy gets to his feet as Aalyah puts her arms on his shoulder.
Backstage: Paul Heyman
Someone knocks on Roman’s door as Paul Heyman answers. The person tells Heyman it’s time for Roman as Heyman tells him it’s time for Roman when Roman says it’s time for Roman.
In-Ring: Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, The Usos
Out come Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman to the ring. Heyman hands the microphone to Roman. We see Jey backstage wearing a headband covering his face and a hat in Roman’s office. Jey says we have some tribal cheese, tribal raspberry and some water. It’s better to be cousins with the tribal chief, at least it was. Jey says Roman changed. He got his head so far up his tribal chief ass that he lost connection with himself and with their family.
Jey says don’t ask him, ask his brother Jey, he is right behind him as it’s actually Jimmy in Roman’s office. Jey attacks Roman from behind as both men fight. Roman goes shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Jey knocks Roman down with a super kick and he hits Roman with the Uso splash off the top rope.
Jimmy comes out as he and Jey celebrate on the ring ramp. Roman gets back up as Heyman gives him a microphone. Roman says it’s all just games, it’s funny to them because they don’t understand but he does. Roman says if they make him quit, he’s not the Universal champion, he’s not the face of WWE, he’s not the tribal chief, he’s not the provider. If they can make him quit, he can live with that. But the question is can they live with it.
Roman says when he makes him quit, he will fall in line, he will take orders, acknowledge him and respect him in the WWE and all that he does for their family. And if he can’t, then they’re both out. Their wives, their children, their children’s children are all out of the family. They’ll all turn their backs on them. Those are their consequences. Heyman hands Roman the WWE Universal Championship. The Hell in a Cell lowers and surrounds the ring with Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns in the ring.
Jimmy climbs the Hell in a Cell as he stares down onto Roman.
