Wade Barrett and WWE are in negotiations to sign Barrett to a full time contract as an announcer, according to PWInsider.
Barrett did commentary on last week’s episode of NXT and will also be on tomorrow’s episode, which was taped last week. Those appearances were a “feeling out process” for WWE, PWInsider says.
WWE has reportedly been interested in Barrett since early 2020. Barrett replaced Jim Cornette on color commentary for the NWA in December.
Any new deal would just be for announcing and there are no plans for him to return as a full-time wrestler, PWInsider added.
