More on AEW vs. NXT Week 46 Viewership

The August 12th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw both shows suffer significant drops in viewership with NXT suffering the worst of the two. AEW managed to maintain their advantage over NXT in both overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW Dynamite drew 792,000 viewers on TNT and a #9 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 619,000 viewers on USA Network and a #65 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

The results of the quarter-hour segment breakdowns were not revealed in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that very stiff sports competition from the NBA and NHL was a big contributor to both shows suffering large drops in viewership this week. Due to NXT failing to chart in the Top 50 shows, detailed demographic breakdowns were not available for NXT.

Meltzer reported that in terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 417,000 viewers and NXT had 206,000 viewers.

Within the key demographic group, AEW had 65,000 viewers for Males 18-34, 60,000 viewers for Females 18-34, 182,000 viewers for Males 35-49, and 110,000 viewers for Females 35-49. Males 18-34, Females 18-34, and Males 35-49 were all down compared to last week’s show for AEW.

NXT reportedly had395,000 viewers for Males 18-34, 21,000 viewers for Females 18-34, 98,000 viewers for Males 35-49, and 48,000 viewers for Females 35-49. All four demographic groups reportedly were down compared to last week’s show for NXT.

Canadian and United Kingdom Viewership for AEW & NXT July and August Shows

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW drew 156,800 viewers for their August 5th episode on TSN in Canada. The August 12th episode did not rank in the Top 10 sports programming for the night, meaning it drew less than 209,800 viewers, according to Post Wrestling.

Meltzer also reported that NXT failed to chart for their July 31st and August 7th episodes on Sportsnet 360 in Canada.

AEW reportedly drew 83,000 for their July 31st episode on ITV4 in the United Kingdom.
