NJPW Announces Cancellation of Remainder of New Japan Cup 2020

New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that the remainder of this year’s New Japan Cup 2020 tournament has been cancelled due to health concerns over the on-going coronavirus outbreak in Japan. NJPW previously cancelled the start of the tournament and all shows up to March 16th due to similar concerns.

The decision was made following a meeting held earlier today with NPW officials and a Japanese government taskforce discussing the current situation of the coronavirus in the country.

NJPW also announced that they will be making an announcement regarding the status of future events after March 22nd.


WWE, AEW, and AJPW Announces New Changes and Cancellations Due to Coronavirus

WWE, All Elite Wrestling, and All Japan Pro Wrestling recently announced policy updates regarding the coronavirus.

WWE reportedly implemented a new “no touching” rule for fan signings over the past weekend with talent now required to wear gloves for autograph signings, according to PWInsider. Mike Johnson also reported that Braun Strowman and The Undertaker followed the company’s new rule at The Big Event wrestling convention this past weekend in New York City, New York.

AEW issued an official statement mentioning that all of their upcoming events are currently moving forward as scheduled. They are also monitoring the situation very closely with any changes to be based on recommendations by government officials, health organizations, and venue management.

All Japan Pro Wrestling announced that they have cancelled more of their events for the month of March with all shows until March 22nd no longer proceeding as scheduled.


Ring of Honor News & Notes

Josh Woods, Tony Deppen, and Jay Lethal were announced to be the final set of official entrants for ROH’s Pure Championship tournament, which starts at their Pure Excellence event on April 10th in Columbus, Ohio. ROH also announced that Deppen will be making his official debut for the company at this event.

Miranda Alize, Heather Monroe, and Lindsay Snow were announced to be the next official entrant for ROH’s Women’s World Championship tournament, which starts at their Quest for Gold event on April 24th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

ROH also announced two new matches for the card of their 18th Anniversary event on March 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada:
– Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) vs. Rey Horus & Alex Zayne
– Bully Ray vs. Eli Isom
