Tommaso Ciampa suffered a legitimate ankle injury at some point during Wednesday’s NXT episode, according to PWInsider.
WWE mentioned the injury on their YouTube channel but it wasn’t clear if it was a real injury or a work. In WWE’s report, they said, “Somewhere [during NXT], we saw Tommaso Ciampa injure his ankle, but he was able to finish the match. It’s too early to speculate on the injury but he’ll be re-evaluated. Right now, Ciampa’s status is unknown, pending the results of a follow up evaluation.”
Ciampa was limping pretty badly during the NXT main event, but still wrestled for the entire match.
Ciampa is scheduled to face Adam Cole for the NXT Championship at TakeOver: Portland next Sunday, February 16.
Also mentioned by the above injury report video:
– Adam Cole had to have three staples for a “laceration,” but isn’t expected to miss any time.
– Tyler Breeze has lower back pain and stiffness after his match against Jordan Devlin. “His symptoms will be monitored.”
