As noted before, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that they will be making their return to Madison Square Garden for an event called Wrestle Dynasty on August 22nd.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that NJPW officials originally had planned to announce their return to the venue during their Wrestle Kingdom 14 event in early January but were unable to do so due to WWE’s attempts to block them from MSG.
Meltzer also reported that the company currently has plans for Wrestle Dynasty to have a card equivalent to a Wrestle Kingdom in terms of status.
At the moment, it is unlikely that Jon Moxley or Chris Jericho would be making an appearance at the event due to their current AEW contracts only allowing them to work NJPW events in Japan.
