“The Villain” Marty Scurll appeared at the end of tonight’s NWA Into the Fire PPV, seemingly challenging NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis.
After Aldis successfully defended his title against James Storm in the main event, Aldis cut a promo saying that no man alive can take the NWA title from him. The lights went out and Marty Scurll’s music, getting a big pop from the crowd. Scurll entered the ring and stared down Aldis until Aldis walked out and the crowd chanted Scurll’s name as the PPV went off the air.
Scurll’s Ring of Honor contract expired on November 30 so he’s presumably a free agent. The expectation is that he’ll sign with AEW, joining his friends there, but ROH also had been trying to re-sign him and WWE is also reportedly interested. Despite his contract expiring, Scurll agreed to wrestle at last night’s ROH Final Battle PPV, losing in a tag match with his partner Flip Gordon to Bandido & Flamita.
The NWA’s next PPV will take place on January 24 and it seems like Scurll will probably face Nick Aldis for the title at that show. The NWA will be doing NWA Powerrr tapings on Sunday and Monday in Atlanta, so Scurll may also be a part of those to set up a possible match with Aldis at the PPV.
Scurll wrestled Aldis for the NWA title in the main event of the NWA Crockett Cup PPV in April, with Aldis coming out on top in that match.
