Eric Bischoff was fired from WWE earlier this week and replaced by Bruce Prichard in the role of Executive Director of SmackDown.
Here’s what one “WWE official” told the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“Eric had absolutely no vision, and once we were headed into FOX, everything was falling through the cracks. He messed up multiple times with FOX. Eric also had no stamina for the rigors of the job.”
People also reportedly complained that Bischoff would be “impossible to reach” after 7 PM on certain days, and appeared unfamiliar with the talent and changes in the business when he first arrived.
According to the Observer, the firing had been expected by some for a while. When previous SmackDown head writer Ryan Ward left in early September and was replaced by previous Raw writer Ed Koskey, many people in WWE expected that Bischoff would be gone soon, the Observer said. Koskey and Prichard will be running the brand going forward and had already essentially been running it for the past couple of months.
A couple of days after he was let go, it was announced that Bischoff will be at the Starrcast IV wrestling convention in November.
