In-Ring: Stone Cold Steve Austin, Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, The OC
The glass shatters as Raw opens up the New York crowd in Madison Square Garden loses their collective minds as the “Texas Rattlesnake” makes his way down to the ring.“Oh Hell Yeah,” starts his promo to a huge reaction. Austin says that someone told him that it had been more than 20 years since he had been in the Garden and before we get to the contract signing he goes down Memory Lane. Austin recalls his legendary match with Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1996 and he points out that the first Stone Cold Stunner ever hit occurred in MSG. Stone Cold reminisces about his SummerSlam 1998 match with The Undertaker at MSG and how he got a concussion during the match.
Stone Cold brings out Braun Strowman, who he refers to as a “big bad sumbitch.” Strowman offers Austin a handshake but he brings out Rollins instead.
Rollins tells Austin that Strowman thinks Austin “has it out for him” and that he also thinks Rollins has it out for him in their Tag Titles match on Sunday. Rollins looks to Strowman and reassures him that he has no plan to stab him in the back. Rollins refers to himself as “the best wrestler on the planet,” which causes some pretty loud boos and a small “AJ Styles” chant, too. Rollins signs the contract with no issue.
Strowman says that he’s looked up to Austin for years but “a rattlesnake is always a rattlesnake.” He says he doesn’t believe that Rollins will turn on him and he loves being tag champion, but he’s going to love being Universal Champion more. “To quote the greatest of all time, I’m going to open a can of whoop ass,” Strowman continued. “And you’re going to get these hands!”
Strowman signs the contract and they are about to shake hands before AJ Styles and the OC come out and interrupt them. Styles says he doesn’t want to get Austin riled up and then starts mocking his catchphrases. Styles tells Austin to “sit this play out or you might get hurt” and then he tells Austin that “it’s all your fault” in regards to the “what” chants. Styles complains about The OC not getting their rematch against Rollins and Strowman as an “asshole” chant starts up. Styles and The OC climb up on the apron and Styles tells Austin that he’s turned into a “real asshole” in his old age. Styles then starts complaining about Strowman getting a Universal Title shot without earning it.
Rollins and Strowman jump The OC as Austin looks on. Strowman hits a big shoulder block on Gallows on the floor and chases Anderson up the ramp. In the ring, Rollins goes for the Curb Stomp on Styles but he sidesteps it and shoves Rollins to the floor. Styles then turns around right into a Stone Cold Stunner to an absolutely deafening pop from the crowd!
Stone Cold celebrates with some Steveweisers as we go to a break.
