AEW: Unique Sets for TV, Number of House Shows, TV Show Name Update

Unique Sets

There is a philosophy in AEW to run different-looking arenas with unique sets, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

That’s obviously in contrast to Raw and SmackDown, which look the same no matter where the show is.

AEW plans to run arenas that hold about 6,000-11,000 seats for their weekly TV show.

Schedule

There will be about 100-120 AEW shows per year, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

TV shows: There will be 51 TV shows, with the December 25 show being preempted because Christmas is on a Wednesday this year.

House shows: There will also be about 50-60 house shows per year, which would take place on Saturday nights and occasionally on another night during the week.

PPV: There will be four major PPVs per year. Tony Khan has said that they also may have smaller streaming specials (like Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen) occasionally.

With talent spread out and not wrestling on each and every show, the idea is to allow for wrestlers to work higher quality matches without taking an enormous toll on their bodies from working several nights a week like in WWE.

TV Show Name

The TV show name is expected to be announced within the next two weeks, according to the Observer.

Wednesday Night Dynamite was trademarked and is clearly a possibility, but it’s not 100% yet and other names are being considered.
