WWE announced on Wednesday that Goldberg would be appearing at their upcoming show in Saudi Arabia on June 7.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE approached Goldberg because they figured that he was the one big name left who could go to AEW and draw a lot of fans who may have stopped watching wrestling. It was compared to how Vince McMahon left the door open for WCW to sign Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Roddy Piper and others in the 90s.
It’s not clear if this is just a one time appearance or if WWE has signed him to a long term deal, similar to deals that they have recently signed with Undertaker and Kurt Angle, where they’re under contract with the company for the next few years but will only make special appearances.
