As noted before, CM Punk reportedly made a surprise return to the ring for MKE Wrestling’s The Last Knight event, which was held last Saturday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Punk apparently disguised himself as a masked wrestler in order to keep his appearance a secret from fans.
A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio show had MKE Wrestling owner Silas Young as the guest and one of the topics discussed included Punk’s surprise appearance at MKE Wrestling’s event last weekend.
“There’s some rumors going around that it was CM Punk. That was the building where he kind of got his start at and shortly before that match happened, my wife came up to me, and said, ‘I heard Punk’s going to do a run in.’ I said, ‘are you serious?’ It made sense with the match being with Ace Steel and having Dave Prazak involved. Those guys are longtime friends. Punk maybe had his first match in that building and unfortunately it’s going to be torn down. It’s one of those things where he wanted to pay a little respect or homage. I gotta be honest with you, he was never at the building before or after. He came, did the run in in the mask and left in the mask. I can’t even 100% say it was CM Punk. But from what I was told, I don’t know why anybody would lie to me.”

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported earlier this week that this was not the first time CM Punk has made a surprise appearance at a wrestling event since his departure from WWE and retirement from wrestling in 2014. Sapp reported that Punk made a previous masked appearance at an event for Freelance Wrestling in December 2015. Footage of his appearance was reportedly tapped for a documentary titled Wrestling Road Diaries 3 but was pulled from the film’s final cut due to the deteriorating relationship between Punk and Colt Cabana.
