Though lots of people are clamoring for a singles match between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch at WrestleMania, WWE’s plan to eventually add Charlotte Flair to the match is “pretty much a lock at this point,” according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer said, “I know that there has been stuff going around that it’s Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch in a singles match at WrestleMania. It is not. I was told again today that – I mean, you can never say Vince won’t change his mind – but this one’s pretty much a lock at this point (Charlotte being added to the match).”
WWE’s long-term mentality is that they want both Becky and Charlotte to be the first women in a WrestleMania main event, which is a big reason why Charlotte will probably eventually be added.
Another reason is that Charlotte and Rousey had a good match at Survivor Series. At one point, WWE planned for Rousey and Charlotte to wrestle again at the Royal Rumble, but WWE put Sasha Banks in there instead, in order to save Charlotte and Rousey for WrestleMania.
Based on last night’s Raw, it looks like Ronda Rousey’s Elimination Chamber match may be against Ruby Riott.
Rousey is expected to take a long break shortly after WrestleMania, but it’s certainly possible that she stays for another month and WWE has a Rousey vs. Becky Lynch singles match at the PPV after WrestleMania.
“Main Event”
One other note is that Becky referred to her match as the WrestleMania “main event,” but WWE also used the term “main event” for the Lesnar vs. Rollins match, so both are going to be called the “main event.”
According to Dave Meltzer, the women’s match will most likely go on last, but a final decision probably won’t be made until the week of the show.
