As noted before, WWE offered new contracts to most of their NXT UK brand talent, which included pay raises and a new set of restrictions based on a talent tiered system. These new contracts were reported to be similar in structure to standard NXT contracts currently offered in the United States.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the ripple effect of WWE’s newest restrictions has already caused one notable women’s promotion to reconsider using NXT UK women talent going forward. Japan-based Stardom is reported to have been recently notified by a few of WWE’s UK talent that they are still allowed to work for the company although all future dates must be approved by WWE going forward.
Stardom officials were also informed that the booking restrictions for WWE’s UK talent also apply to them and they are no longer allowed to book any NXT UK talent against opponents from either ROH or World of Sport. As a result, Meltzer reported that Stardom will likely no longer be using any NXT UK women talent going forward due to WWE’s restrictions and ability to pull their talent from shows without advance notice.
Meltzer also reported that it appears WWE’s newest restrictions on their UK women talent does not include Impact Wrestling since both Stardom and European-based Pro-Wrestling: EVE were allowed to book matches between NXT UK and Impact Wrestling talent. In regards to EVE, it appears this was only due to WWE allowing both Toni Storm and Jinny to finish up their remaining commitments with the company.
