Becky Lynch Announcement
SmackDown Live kicks off with highlights from last night’s Raw involving the SmackDown women invading the show. They announce that Becky Lynch will not be participating at Survivor Series due to a broken face and a concussion.
In-Ring: AJ Styles, Paul Heyman, Daniel Bryan
Out comes WWE champion AJ Styles. AJ says for the second year in a row at Survivor Series, he steps in the ring with Brock Lesnar. AJ says he has faced people that have taken him to his limits and others which have threatened his family. He has defeated them all except for Brock Lesnar but he gets a second chance. AJ says that most don’t survive the first but he does more than just surviving.
AJ Styles stops and the camera pans to Paul Heyman who is speaking with the time keeper. AJ demands that Heyman gets a microphone. Paul Heyman says “ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman and I am the advocate for the reigning, defending, undisputed, Universal heavyweight champion, the champion of champions, Brock Lesnar.” Heyman says he came here because last night on Raw, the premier show in WWE, he told AJ and the entire WWE universe that there is no one that his client Brock Lesnar wants to fight this Sunday at Survivor Series more than AJ Styles.
Paul Heyman adds by saying the reason for that is because when you think of the greatest in ring performers of WWE history, you are talking about Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and himself, the WWE champion, AJ Styles. Heyman says AJ is close to being number one but that spot belongs to Daniel Bryan. And since we will never see Brock against Daniel, we will get Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles. Heyman says Brock will step in the ring with the second greatest in ring performer in WWE history, AJ Styles as Heyman proceeds to applaud.
AJ says he gets what he is doing. Heyman is trying to get under his skin but just so he knows, he only has respect for Daniel Bryan. But he didn’t just beat Daniel Bryan, he tapped him out. And he hasn’t forgotten last year, he knows what happened. Brock Lesnar won but he walked out with his head held high. AJ says Brock limped out with a victory which means he is vulnerable. And for 371 days, he has gotten better at tapping people out and for 371 days, Brock Lesnar has become more vulnerable to tapping out. That gives him two ways of beating Lesnar. Pinning his shoulders to the mat or tapping him out. This Sunday will not be about Brock Lesnar or Daniel Bryan but about the face that runs the place, the champ which runs the camp, AJ Styles.
Daniel Bryan’s music hits. Daniel gets in the ring and says he is no sure why they are talking about him but he guess they did have their championship match. And yes, he did tap out and he can accept that. No excuses. But he told AJ before that match that he respects him and he meant that. But he also told him that he has been looking for a reason to punch him in the face and he meant that too. Daniel says that if AJ mentions his name one more time without reason, he will punch him in the face. Bryan drops the microphone.
AJ tells him that Paul Heyman brought up his name, not him. And if he is still hot about 2 weeks ago, he thought they were all good but he was wrong. When someone asks AJ who he stepped in the ring with, he can’t say Daniel Bryan? Bryan punches him as both men begin to fight. In comes Shane McMahon with WWE officials to break it up.
Later backstage, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are arguing and in comes AJ Styles. Shane breaks it up as the argument continues. Shane says the title is on the line tonight.
