James Ellsworth made his Impact Wrestling debut tonight at the Bound for Glory PPV in Queens, NY.
Eli Drake came into the ring to issue an open challenge to anyone from New York. The crowd expected Chris Jericho (who was born in New York and raised in Canada) and chanted “Y2J,” but James Ellsworth came out instead to answer the challenge. Drake said that he wasn’t from New York, but Ellsworth said that he used to date a girl from Staten Island and lived in her basement for a while.
The crowd, disappointed by the lack of Jericho, booed Ellsworth unfortunately and chanted “fuck you Ellsworth”… :-( They were very much behind Drake, who was supposed to be playing the heel in the segment. Ellsworth attacked Drake and tried to hit a Styles Clash, but Drake reversed it into a Gravy Train for a quick win.
Drake then said he didn’t want to face garbage, he wanted to face a Hall of Famer, which brought out Abyss, who was inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame last night. Abyss pretty much destroyed Drake and put him through a table with a chokeslam to finish up the segment.
