Sporting News held a recent interview with Kevin Nash discussing the growing criticism of The Undertaker facing off against Triple H instead of younger talent at WWE Super Show-Down, younger talent struggling to get over in WWE, who to blame for WWE’s woes in building new stars, and more.
On the topic of the growing criticism against WWE for The Undertaker facing Triple H instead of younger talent in Australia, Nash stated it is due to a mix of people not caring about WWE’s younger stars and those same stars struggling to get over with crowds.
No one cares about the young guys. When I watched Summerslam that (Undertaker and Tripe H) package caught my eye and made me want to see that match. I don’t know if I want to see Roman Reigns versus Undertaker again. What more of a rub can you give than that? He’s [been] given rubs before and they just aren’t getting over.
While discussing more about WWE’s younger talent struggling to get over with crowds, Nash stated it would be a mistake to simply just put them in a match against The Undertaker from a booking perspective.
“Who would you put in those positions? You going to put Finn [Balor] in there versus The Undertaker? [Seth] Rollins? Who are you going to put?”
On the topic of who to blame for WWE’s woes on building new stars, Nash stated no one specifically should be blamed but instead it is just a sign of the changing times in the industry.
I just don’t think there’s going to be guys like that anymore. Those guys aren’t going to have 30 years in the business. This style won’t allow these guys to last 30 years. Rollins already had a couple knee operations, but he’s a great worker. I just don’t see these guys even lasting 20 years because of their bodies and the concussion syndrome. Now, they (WWE) are doing concussion testing and everything else.
Other topics discussed during the interview included nWo’s reunion tour and Bullet Club being the modern version of the nWo.
