Gran Metalik defeated Tony Nese
Gran Metalik came out, while Nese was backstage and refused to be interviewed. Murphy took over and said he’ll win the title in Australia. Nese then made his entrance and counted his abs.
The match started off with a tumbling exchange and then a stalemate. Nese landed a kicking combo before sweeping him down. Nese avoided a rana off the apron by swinging Metalik into the barricade. Nese caught him off a moonsault, but Metalik turned it into a DDT. Nese landed a big heel kick, but Metalik hit him with an incredible rana off the apron to the floor.
Metalik went for a moonsault off the top to the floor, but Nese got his knees up. Well, that’s just a stupid bump to take on 205 Live. Nese landed a 450 for two. He posted Metalik for the knee strike, but Metalik superkicked him and landed a Metalik Driver for two. Metalik hit a super rana and a rope-walk elbow to win it.
The Lucha House Party celebrated while McGuinness lamented his fate of hearing their noisemakers.
Backstage: Mustafa Ali, Drake Maverick
Hideo Itami was shown destroying a jobber last week. Mustafa Ali talked to Maverick and was disappointed that he wasn’t in his Authors of Pain gear. Maverick told him that he can do what he likes on Monday, and he appreciates that Ali wants to take out Itami, but Ali can’t come back at all physically until Maverick gives him the okay.
Noam Dar defeated Bryan Kelly
Noam Dar came out to beat a jobber named Bryan Kelly (a rib on Byron Saxton’s real name). Lio Rush interrupted them and came out in a suit jacket and slacks without a shirt.
Kelly was more ripped than 90 percent of the roster. Rush was on commentary and complained about not being booked for SummerSlam weekend events. Kelly missed a crossbody and Dar snapmared him into the rope. Kelly climbed up top, but Dar kicked him down and Kelly faceplanted.
Dar hit a tossing Northern Lights suplex. He hit a powerful kick to Kelly’s knee and connected with the lightning kick to win it. After the match, Rush mocked Dar for always holding his pinkies in the air.
Next Week
It was announced that Gran Metalik will face Murphy next week.
Cedric Alexander defeated TJP in a non-title match
Alexander came down and called out Gulak. Instead of Gulak, he got TJP. TJP told him that the title was made for him and he’s impatient. Maverick entered and actually has a theme and tron. He said he’ll go against GM code and knows a marquee match when he sees it. He made Alexander vs. TJP.
They wrestled on the mat for a bit before Alexander hit the Neuralyzer quickly. Alexander hit a suicide dive. TJP got an outside-in headscissors into an octopus, but Alexander turned it into a stretch muffler. TJP made that a cradle for two. TJP locked on an octopus stretch in the rope for a four count.
Alexander hit a slingshot flatliner for two. TJP worked on the arm on the mat, but Alexander hit a flying lariat — hurting that arm even more. McGuinness made a great point about Alexander needing to think longer term because if he goes into Australia hurt, he’ll be easy pickings for Murphy.
Alexander hit a big suplex into a gutbuster for two. TJP turned a Lumbar Check into a Kimura before turning it into a Fujiwara armbar. TJP transitioned into a kneebar, but Alexander got to the rope. TJP went for an armbar, but Alexander countered it and turned it into a Lumbar Check to win.
Gulak came out and congratulated Alexander on winning — and of course now wanted to settle things like Alexander wanted to earlier. Jack Gallagher jumped Alexander and Gulak laid Alexander out with a lariat and then locked on the Gu-Lock.
