As mentioned, Brock Lesnar had been advertised for this past Monday’s post-SummerSlam Raw, but obviously didn’t appear on the show. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar was originally set to be at Raw, but WWE pulled him from the show because nobody could come up with an idea for him that made sense.
Lesnar’s contract with WWE is done and he’s heading to the UFC, so the feeling was that since Lesnar had no future match to set up or future return date, there was no good reason for him to be on the show. Instead, they did the backstage segment where Paul Heyman asked for a rematch, but Kurt Angle told him that it would be a very long time before he gets one, which pretty much wrote him off of the show for now.
However, the feeling is that Lesnar will be back in WWE after his UFC run, with Dave Meltzer saying that it’s “pretty much a lock that he’ll be back at some point,” since he’s 41 years old “with limited striking ability,” so his UFC time is limited.
Lesnar re-entered the USADA drug testing pool a couple of months ago and has already been given three surprise tests, Meltzer says. Lesnar has already been training hard for his future fight against Daniel Cormier and he has dropped weight down to 270 lbs.
