Kalisto defeated Tony Nese
Nese shoved Kalisto down a few times to start things off. Nese bullied him around outside and tossed him into the buckle hard, then Nese charged into the corner and ate a boot. Kalisto dove into a backbreaker and some corner kicks.
Kalisto got the corkscrew crossbody and a basement rana for two. The Salida Del Sol was countered into a schoolboy buckle bomb for two by Nese, but the Salida Del Sol then hit to give Kalisto the win. Nigel McGuinness was unhappy about the result on commentary.
After the match, Murphy came down and prevented Kalisto from leaving. Murphy went to press slam him, but Lince Dorado ran down for the save.
Backstage: Drew Gulak, Cedric Alexander
Footage was shown of Alexander, Gulak, and Drake Maverick at the contract signing. Gulak congratulated Alexander on being undefeated all year, but he said Alexander hasn’t done anything since WrestleMania. Alexander pointed out his title defenses, while Gulak said that Alexander was busy relaxing while the workhorses of 205 Live wore themselves out for his glory.
Gulak called Alexander the Brock Lesnar of 205 Live because he only works when he wants.
Lio Rush defeated Ricky Martinez
Lio Rush came to the ring and talked about being tempted to give Akira Tozawa a rematch, but it wouldn’t be fair to his new, more qualified opponent — Ricky Martinez.
Rush sent him outside for a Tozawa-esque suicide dive. Rush then dropped him and ended it with the Final Hour frog splash. Tozawa entered and chased Rush away.
Cedric Alexander defeated Brian Kendrick in a non-title match
Kendrick headlocked him down, but Alexander nipped up quickly. Alexander dominated with chops and landed a snap headscissors. Gulak walked down and gave Alexander a big double thumbs up.
Kendrick went under the ring, pulled Alexander into the apron, and then threw him into the steps. Gulak talked about growing up with his brother and loving WWE — and now he’ll be able to win a title at SummerSlam. Kendrick went for Sliced Bread, but Alexander sent him out over the top. Alexander landed his big flip dive.
Alexander sent Kendrick into the corner and hit a crossbody before a high kick. He hit the Neuralyzer, but the springboard Complete Shot was turned into the Captain’s Hook by Kendrick. A press slam Michinoku driver got a close near fall for Alexander. Alexander hit a European uppercut in the corner before the Lumbar Check finished it.
Gulak went to come into the ring, with Jack Gallagher running in and headbutting Alexander down. Maverick ran down with referees and threatened Gulak with losing his SummerSlam title shot if he touched Alexander. So in 2018, we’ve got WWE booking Rockstar Spud as a better, tougher GM than Kurt Angle.
