Noam Dar defeated TJP
TJP came out and said that all of his existing opponents were people that Maverick picked — and he’s still not in the main event and it’s not for the title. Moreover, he can’t stand being in Nebraska because that’s where fun goes to die. Noam Dar then returned to face TJP after coming back at last month’s UK brand shows in London.
Dar rushed in with an uppercut and sent TJP packing before TJP ran right into a lightning leg lariat to end it. Wow — this was about the best way to have him return. This was good stuff, but it didn’t get over with the live crowd at all.
Akira Tozawa defeated Jaysin Strife
Akira Tozawa entered for a squash match with Jaysin Strife. Lio Rush came out to watch the match. Tozawa beat him down early with a snap jab, a PK, and a senton. Strife got some hope, but he missed a second rope moonsault and ate a shining wizard. A tornado kick landed and set up the top rope senton from Tozawa for the win. Rush looked on and was seemingly impressed by him.
Rush climbed on the announce table and said that Tozawa is good and he can see why he’s a former champion — but he hasn’t done much since then. Rush said he doesn’t wait for anything — he’s too good for that. When Tozawa is ready for a challenge, he should face the Man of the Hour and feel the Rush.
Mustafa Ali defeated Buddy Murphy in a no DQ match
Backstage, Ali looked down at his mask and cut a promo on Murphy being a bully and a bad dude. He said Murphy is dangerous, but Ali will run directly into the danger. Ali and Murphy came out for the main event.
Ali hit a big dive to the floor to start. He took Murphy down with an ankle pick, but Murphy booted him and sent him over the announce table. Ali and Murphy brawled on the floor, with Ali tossing him into the steps. Murphy was thrown into the crowd and Ali hit a springboard dive onto him off of the barricade.
Murphy sent Ali down and kicked him on the ground. Ali walked the barricade but got thrown off onto the floor. Murphy hit a hard snap suplex on the floor. He put on a chinlock, but Ali jawjacked him. Murphy recovered and slugged away in the corner.
Ali got bullied around, but he fought like Steamboat off his knees to make Murphy seem that much more dominant. Ali hit a pop-up dropkick and chopped him in the corner. An apron high kick led to an apron X-Factor for two. Murphy laid him out on the floor and put the base of the steps in the ring.
Ali threw him into the steps and took the announce table top off, but this opened the door for Murphy to dropkick the steps into him before doing a run-up flip dive to the floor. Murphy set the steps up in the corner and threw Ali into them. He went to do it again, but Ali gave him a rana into the steps. Murphy avoided the 054 and hit a trapping superkick before hitting a powerbomb and spiral bomb for a near fall.
Murphy tossed Ali’s face into the steps a few times before going up top and getting crotched. Ali slammed the steps into Murphy’s face multiple times before setting the steps base-up near the turnbuckle and doing a superplex off them. Well, that was incredible — and Ali is one of the few who can make use of WWE’s inorganic ringside setup and make it work in an organic manner.
Ali tried to get a cover, but Murphy rolled outside. Murphy threw him on the table and went on top of the barricade, but Ali crotched him and hit a Spanish Fly off the barricade onto the announce table — which didn’t break.
Ali came back in and ate a big running knee to the jaw. Murphy trapped him in the ropes before kneeing his face again. Ali refused to quit, then ate a Kamigoye knee for 2.9. Murphy went to attack him with the steps more, but Ali hit a run-up tornado DDT off the steps for the win. This was one of the best matches in 205 Live’s history.
