WWE Did You Know – Lex Luger’s Memorable Bodyslam Anniversary

In a “WWE Did You Know” type fact, today is the 25th anniversary of Lex Luger’s memorable bodyslam to Yokozuna on a US aircraft carrier.

During a WWF event held on July 4, 1993 on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier in New York, then WWF Champion Yokozuna issued an open challenge with the only requirement for winning being to bodyslam him. After several opponents failed, Luger answered the challenge next and proceeded to slam Yokozuna on the mat for the victory.

Following this event, Luger would challenge Yokozuna for the WWF Championship at SummerSlam 1993 and while he won the match by count out, Yokozuna retained the title in the end.

Miz Comments on His Upcoming “Miz & Mrs” Reality Series

Entertainment Weekly held a recent interview with The Miz and one of the topics discussed included his thoughts on USA Network’s upcoming Miz & Mrs reality series.

“We don’t want to reinvent the wheel, we just want to make a shiny new wheel that people can look at and go, ‘Wow, this is something special, this is something nice,. What we set out to do was make this show [so that] when you watch it you don’t literally look at it and go, ‘Oh that was fake’ or ‘That was real.’ You watch it like you watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, like you watch The Office, like you watch Modern Family. You watch it, you get enthralled by the characters, you follow the stories, and you just enjoy the show. … We made a 30-minute comedy and it’s things that people can relate to and I think that’s what’s gonna set us apart from everybody else.”

Season Finale of Something Else to Wrestle to Focus on CM Punk’s Early WWE Career

WWE Network News reported that the topic for the season finale of WWE Network’s Something Else to Wrestle podcast with hosts Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson will be based on CM Punk’s WWE career from 2006 to 2008.
