Indie superstar and former UFC fighter Matt Riddle may be WWE bound.
Both WWE and NJPW have interest in Riddle, according to both Dave Meltzer and PWInsider. However, NJPW would only want Riddle for their US shows, which are very limited, so he would be more likely to go to WWE, Meltzer says.
WWE is very interested in bringing Riddle in for NXT, PWInsider says, but no contract offers have been made at this time.
Riddle is the current EVOLVE Champion and is signed to an EVOLVE contract. He was reportedly set up with EVOLVE with help from Triple H after Riddle had a WWE tryout but was not signed. EVOLVE has been used as WWE’s unofficial “farm system” for a while.
To add fuel to the fire, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla announced that Riddle will no longer be part of their Battle of Los Angeles shows on September 14-16.
Matthew Riddle will no longer be a participant in the 2018 Battle of Los Angeles. Trevor Lee has now entered the tournament in his place!

Riddle also pulled himself off of bookings during SummerSlam weekend, which has lead to speculation that he could possibly appear at ringside during NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Riddle’s former EVOLVE rival Keith Lee was introduced to NXT that way a few months ago.
Riddle is very charismatic and is an excellent wrestler who would probably be a big star in NXT. How he’ll be used on the main roster is of course another story, like with everyone else.
