Rumor: WWE to Hold Indies Themed Tournament in 2019

WWE is currently rumored to be holding an indies themed tournament next year for the WWE Network, according to the Wrestling Observer.

The Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Newsletter that WWE has recently considered plans to hold a tournament next year for the WWE Network featuring indie talent not signed to the company. Meltzer speculated this tournament would act as WWE’s gateway to other companies for potential future talent signings and working relationships. Meltzer also speculated WWE will use their current relationship with ICW, PROGRESS, and other promotions to supply talent for this potential tournament.

Website Wrestling DVD Network recently released a partial content listing for WWE’s upcoming Shawn Michaels DVD collection set. This three disc set is titled as Shawn Michaels: The Showstopper Unreleased and is currently scheduled to be released on October 2nd.

Impact Wrestling announced that they have recently signed a partnership deal with Australia’s World Series Wrestling to provide content for their Global Wrestling Network service.

Joey Janela announced a new match for the card of GCW Joey Janela’s Lost in New York event in Queens, New York on August 17th. This was revealed to be a singles match of Matt Riddle versus PCO.

Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) announced the card of their July 22nd event in Cologne, Germany features a singles match of Pete Dunne versus WALTER.
