Two trademarks, one related to WCW and one related to WWE, were recently filed with the USPTO but not by WWE, according to PWInsider.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that a Las Vegas-based company called KBN INC. filed a trademark for the term “Halloween Havoc” on June 8th for clothing and entertainment purchases. Making things interesting is that the filing also included wrestling related purposes as a potential use for the trademark. Johnson reported that WWE’s trademark for the classic WCW event expired on October 2005 and the company currently does not have any active trademarks for the term.
Portion of KBN’s trademark filing for “Halloween Havoc”:
“Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of a wrestling club; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”
Johnson also reported that California-based wrestler Tatevik the Gamer filed a trademark for the term “Sister Abigail” on June 5th for wrestling related purposes. WWE was reported to have never previously filed a trademark for the term even though Sister Abigail was a focal point of Bray Wyatt’s character and there were plans in the past to introduce the character on WWE television.
The trademarks are not final and WWE would be able to challenge them if they choose.
