WWE is reported to have allegedly engaged in tampering with contracted talent from Major League Wrestling, according to the Wrestling Observer.
The Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Newsletter that there have been reports of WWE recently offering deals to talent who are currently contracted with Major League Wrestling. Those contracted talent were reported to have turned down WWE’s requests and handed over WWE’s legal documents to MLW officials to make them aware of the situation. Meltzer also reported after being rejected, WWE told those talent to still attend one of their upcoming tryouts and to not renew their deals with MLW.
Meltzer reported a big reason for WWE’s antics is due to MLW’s recent television contract with beIN SPORTS and WWE aggressively trying to sign as many notable indie talent away from MLW’s possible benefit.
This would be the second time in recent years WWE has been alleged to tamper with the contracts of talent from another company. ROH threatened to sue the company last year if they refused to stop contacting their talent while under ROH contracts. This led to WWE eventually having to pull offers for some of ROH’s talent they wanted and delaying deals for others till months after their ROH contracts expired.
