Paige officially announced her retirement on Raw tonight, noting that she made her main roster WWE debut about four years ago (April 7, 2014), also in New Orleans, the night after WrestleMania.
Paige suffered a neck and back injury on December 27 at a house show in Uniondale, NY after being kicked in the back and reportedly losing feeling in her extremities. She had just returned to the ring a month before after undergoing neck surgery in October of 2016. Though Paige was reportedly “fine” after the match in Uniondale and was able to walk backstage on her own, she was told two weeks later that she would not be cleared to return to the ring and her WWE in-ring career was essentially over.
In her retirement speech, Paige said that she would “have to go and find something else” so we’ll see if that means anything for her current WWE TV role, which has basically just been accompanying Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to the ring.
WWE cameras were shooting footage with Paige for Total Divas over the weekend, so she will probably be on the next season of that.
