They went into the ropes off a tie-up, with Itami shoving Dorado down. Itami was taken down with a side headlock while Vic Joseph talked about the luchadors and their innovative offense. A running rana sent Itami down, a dropkick sent him out, and Dorado landed a tope.
Itami hit a knee to Dorado’s gut back in the ring before raking his boot across his face. Dorado landed an overhand chop, but Itami responded with a big lariat. Itami was sent to the floor and shoved Metalik, which led to Metalik shoving Itami for the disqualification. Kalisto and Tozawa held back their partners to prevent a brawl from breaking out.
Video: Drew Gulak
Gulak’s transformation from being serious in the Cruiserweight Classic to being a comedy act with the PowerPoint presentations on 205 Live and now being more of a badass in this tournament was spotlighted. Gulak said he is being forced to compete as if he is a champion, so he’s raising his game to set a better example.
Backstage: Cedric Alexander
Alexander cut a promo in an echo chamber and said he has achieved one dream by competing at WrestleMania, but it means nothing if he doesn’t win the title.
TJP defeated Kenneth Johnson
TJP came out to face Kenneth Johnson, who appeared in the CWC. TJP cut an Instagram promo on Santa, Kermit, and whoever wins the title because they’ll have to face him.
TJP elbowed him down to start and landed the two amigos and a tope con hilo. Johnson hit a headbutt to the gut and a spinning knee strike to the knee. TJP landed a dragon screw and nailed him with the Detonation Kick.
TJP could have pinned him, but he got the submission with the kneebar instead. He finally let go after the referee forced a break — which should ideally lead to Drake Maverick issuing some kind of fine so this will actually mean something later.

Can @MustafaAliWWE's dream become a reality? He looks to punch a ticket to face @CedricAlexander for the @WWE #Cruiserweight Championship at @WrestleMania TONIGHT on #205Live! pic.twitter.com/LKzY79qv3k

An Ali video told his story about being a cop before WWE, and he talked about being more driven than anyone. Ali became a cop to lead to change in the world and better it. He views this tournament as more than a chance at WrestleMania and a chance for a title — he can change someone’s mind who would hate a man named “Mustafa Ali” just due to his name.
Backstage: Drake Maverick
Maverick was backstage with Dasha Fuentes and was livid over what happened in the opener. Maverick said that he will have a fatal four way next week with Tozawa, Kalisto, TJP, and Buddy Murphy.
Mustafa Ali defeated Drew Gulak in a Cruiserweight Championship tournament semifinal match
Nigel McGuinness mentioned that Ali had to be the breadwinner for his family from a young age after his father died.
Ali wrestled Gulak down to the mat while we saw Alexander watch the match from an angle that would require neck surgery if he did it too much. Gulak flapjacked Ali down but ate a running rana and a pop-up dropkick. Ali muscled him into the rope, which opened the door for a quick back elbow and a rabbit lariat for two.
Ali went for a jumping reverse rana, but Gulak hit an electric chair out of the corner and bridged for two. Gulak landed some Minoru Suzuki-esque grounded stomps to the face while Ali was on the mat. They exchanged stiff slaps to the face before Ali hit a rana.
A springboard X-Factor got two for Ali. He stomped away at Gulak so much in the corner that he knocked him down on the apron. Gulak then sent him jaw-first into the buckle.
Gulak got the dragon sleeper. Ali landed some knees as he fought out of it, but Gulak connected with a big lariat. Gulak held on for more lariats, only getting a two count. Ali applied a Koji clutch out of nowhere, but Gulak turned it into a cradle for two.
Ali stood tall up top and hit a flip dive to the floor before a huge “Ali” chant broke out. He went for the 054, but Gulak tripped him up and Ali hit hard on the apron.
They fought on the floor and Ali dove over the announce table to get to Gulak. They took the fight to the announce table, with Gulak backdropping him off it to the floor. The referee started his count, but Gulak broke it to do more damage and tossed Ali into the timekeeper’s area.
Ali gets back into the ring at 9.9 to break the count. Gulak used the dragon sleeper, but Ali got to the rope and landed a DDT! The 054 then ended it, and Ali is going to WrestleMania.
Fuentes interviewed Ali, who still got a big “Ali!” chant and said his mission is to prove it doesn’t matter where you’re from or what color your skin is, all that matters is what’s in your heart. Ali’s star has shined brighter than anyone else in this tournament — he’s been given a handful of chances to shine with promos and knocks it out of the park every time.
Ali went into the crowd and hugged his family to close the episode. This was an incredible night for Ali, and he should be able to steal the show at WrestleMania with Alexander.
