Io Shirai Still Wants to Join WWE

As previously reported, a potential deal between WWE and Io Shirai fell apart after WWE became worried over the status of her health after medical tests revealed heart related issues.

In an update to this situation, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that Io Shirai is currently working on getting healthy enough to pass a WWE medical test and get a deal done with the company. Meltzer also reported Shirai turned down the chance to be part of Ring of Honor’s Women of Honor tournament because she felt that working for ROH would hurt her chances of being signed by WWE.

Update on Status of ITV’s World of Sport Revival

As previously reported, ITV’s original plans to revival the classic World of Sport wrestling television series were put on an indefinite hold last Summer due to scheduling issues. ITV then considered backup plans of holding tapings during late 2017, which did not happen, then early 2018, with wrestlers being given a spring 2018 date for potential tapings.

In an update to this situation, the Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that ITV has yet to start plans on holding tapings this spring and it is becoming increasingly unlikely that the project will resume production within the near future, if at all.
