The Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported both Penta 0M (Pentagon Dark in Lucha Underground) and Rey Fenix have recently dropped out of wXw’s upcoming Carat Gold tournament due to Lucha Underground commitments. This tournament is set to occur from March 9-11 which is expected to be Lucha Underground’s third weekend of tapings for Season 4. The other dates for tapings are currently expected to be February 23-25, March 2-4, and March 16-17. At the moment, the company is planning for 21 episodes to be taped for the new season.
In regards to Lucha Underground’s roster for the upcoming season, Meltzer reported the roster will be a lot smaller with some stars already granted their release, some to be released after they are written off during the tapings, and others simply not being brought back due to budget cuts. Jeff Cobb will likely not be involved in the third weekend of tapings due to being currently booked for wXw’s upcoming tournament.
