Various: Women’s Royal Rumble? McIntyre Surgery, Indie Debut on Impact

Women’s Royal Rumble

With the call-up of five new women wrestlers to the main roster and the return of Paige, there have been rumors that WWE could do a women’s Royal Rumble this year. However, as of now, though the idea has certainly been brought up, nothing has been “green-lit,” according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE currently has 21 active women’s wrestlers on the main roster, including Lana, so they could do a 20 women Royal Rumble. Removing the two champions would bring it to under 20 though, and I would assume that the winner would get a title shot like the men’s Rumble.

One worry is that it could be tiring to do a long women’s Royal Rumble match, then follow it up with another long men’s Royal Rumble match later in the card.

However, the idea does sort of seem inevitable (if not this year, then soon), since WWE will have over 20 women on their roster and will need to figure out something interesting for them to do.

Drew McIntyre Injury Update

Drew McIntyre underwent surgery last week for his torn biceps that he suffered at NXT TakeOver on November 18, according to Dave Meltzer.

The surgery reportedly went as well as possible and he’s targeting the first week of April, which would be around WrestleMania, when NXT also holds a TakeOver event.

Ethan Page Debuts for Impact

Ethan Page, who was one of the top wrestlers in EVOLVE until his departure a couple of months ago, made his Impact TV debut on last night’s show.

He’s playing “Chandler Park,” the cousin of Joseph Park, and the two are lawyers… I am a sucker for over the top wrestling gimmicks, so this seems good to me.
