Newspaper Irish Mirror held a recent interview with Rosemary discussing Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts division, teaming up with Allie, and transitioning from a heel to a face wrestler.
On the topic of Impact’s current Knockouts division, Rosemary stated Gail Kim’s recent departure meant others in the division now have to step up and become the new leaders of women’s wrestling in Impact Wrestling.
“It’s time for the current women to step up and, not be given, but take the role left when Gail Kim retired. The Knockouts division is in, shall we say, a renaissance. There is no outstanding veteran in the division any longer. … It’s up to Rosemary, Sienna, Allie, Laurel Van Ness, it’s up to somebody to take that role, which is something that we’re set up to do.”
On the topic of teaming up with Allie, Rosemary stated the team’s current success with fans is due to the years of past history and experience working with each other. She felt this made it a lot easier for the team to connect with fans.
“It is funny, because we spent so many years as rivals on the independent scene, but once we became a functioning duo, it really took off with our fans. We know each other better than most people know us, which is why I think we work so well as allies instead of rivals.”
On the topic of transitioning from a heel to face star, Rosemary implied it was an easy transition since the only changes to her character was just switching the motivations for her actions as a face wrestler.
“For a lot of 2016 she was this heel who caused destruction with Decay. She would kidnap and blackmail, cartoon villain things, but their would be an air of reality and danger to them as well. Decay, were really the only villains worthy of Matt Hardy and his family during that time. … We were the only ones who could possibly keep up with them, and match them at the level they were at. So she’s now kind of, dare I say a babyface, but she hasn’t changed really the way she operates. She still demands darkness, and chaos and loyalty from people. She hasn’t changed the way that she does battle, but maybe she’s changing the reason why she does battle.”
