Update on the Current Legal Status of the “Broken” Trademark
Matt Hardy’s application for the “Broken” trademark will be entering the opposition phase on December 19, according to PWInsider. This is the last big phase of the trademark process before the final paperwork phase occurs and Anthem or anyone else will have 30 days to file an opposition. It could still be a long time before an official decision is made on Hardy’s trademark request if Anthem decides to oppose it.
ESPN Considering More Wrestling Themed 30 For 30 Documentaries
ESPN is reported to be considering producing more wrestling themed 30 For 30 documentaries based on the success of Ric Flair’s documentary.
The Flair 30 for 30 drew 1.83 million viewers for its premiere, making it the most successful 30 For 30 documentary since the “Catholics vs Convicts” (1988 Miami vs. Notre Dame football game) episode on December 10, 2016. Dave Meltzer reported the Ric Flair documentary will be having a DVD release featuring more interviews and content not shown in the original airing.
NXT TakeOver: WarGames Panel
WWE announced the pre-show panel for this Saturday’s NXT Takeover: WarGames will be Charly Caruso, Booker T, and Sam Roberts.
Macho Man’s Birthday
This past Wednesday would have been “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s 65th birthday. Macho Man’s final involvement with WWE was with the promotion of WWE All-Star video game prior to his passing in 2011.
WWE MSG Main Event
WWE recently updated the card for December 26th’s Madison Square Garden house show with the main event changed from Samoa Joe versus John Cena to now Roman Reigns versus John Cena. Other updates recently made include Braun Strowman versus Kane and a Steel Cage Match for the RAW Tag Team Championship between Seth Rollins & Deam Ambrose versus champions Sheamus & Cesaro.
WWE 365 with Kevin Owens
WWE announced that the debut episode of the WWE 365 documentary based on Kevin Owens will be narrated by actor and director Michael Rappaport.
Impact Interested in Lucha Underground’s Brian Cage
PWInsider reported that there have been talks within Impact in regards to being interested in using Lucha Underground’s Brian Cage for future Impact Wrestling shows.
