It’s always weird when these releases come out of nowhere. Fresh from her pretty good match with Asuka at TLC, WWE and Emma have parted ways as per WWE.com.
BREAKING NEWS: WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Emma. https://t.co/mB3phnvRjX
— WWE (@WWE) October 29, 2017
Emma, real name Tenille Dashwood, has had a turbulent time in WWE. She got herself over with a goofy dancing gimmick and struggled to get inside the ring as part of that, so much so that she had to turn face. Then she had a fantastic NXT women’s title match with Paige which put them both on the map as it was ranked as one of the best women’s matches in some time on WWE programming. Emma was called up to the main roster and was paired with Santino to double down on the goofy nature of the gimmick, before being arrested and fired for shoplifting and then a few hours later, re-hired. When she returned with a new look as a heel character back in NXT, sporting half-gloves and sunglasses, she began to get herself over again and was paired with Dana Brooke before getting injured. Once she was ready to return, vignettes started playing for a character called Emmalina – character which was doomed to never debut. Emma came back with the heel character she was playing previously, finishing with the aforementioned match with Asuka and TLC.
As WWE did, I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
