Impact Wrestling announced today that the Bound for Glory PPV on November 5 will take place in Ottawa, Canada.
That means that Jim Cornette is done with the company for now, according to Dave Meltzer, because he would likely be unable to enter Canada. In 2010, Cornette was turned away at the border after they ran his record, which includes “a number of assaults,” according to Meltzer, “mostly stemming from incidents involving fights with fans who attacked him while he was a manager at matches in the 80s.”
Impact’s next set of TV tapings will also take place in Canada at the same venue.
Cornette previously said that he was booked for Bound for Glory, but wasn’t sure about the TV tapings after that. He also said that his role in the company wasn’t meant to be long-term and he was brought on to replace Bruce Prichard as an on-air authority figure during the last set of tapings because Prichard couldn’t be there that week. Cornette said that when he was originally hired by Jarrett, it was only meant for the one set of tapings so that Bruce Prichard could return as a heel after being fired.
Cornette said that he agreed to do any backstage segments (shot in Nashville) if Impact needed to write him off the show, but as of now, there was nothing currently planned.
He was already at the last set of tapings, which run until November, so he’ll likely still be on TV for a while.
Bound for Glory will take place in Canada … well we know @TheJimCornette won't be there.
